Books That Transformed Me in 2020

2020 was a very bad year for the world in every sense. Millions of people died of Covid-19. We are still suffering from the pandemic and there is no silver lining on the horizon yet. Many lost their jobs and livelihoods.

But to be honest it was one of the most productive years for me. I am one of the privileged to have the opportunity to work from home (WFH).

I never had this much free time since my college days. Therefore it was a perfect opportunity to enrich myself, and I tried to utilize the most of it. For the first time in my life, I read books on Finance and Accounting. I used to have a very negative approach to money and academic subjects related to Finance. When I was a teen I made a decision, I don’t want to count money — I want to think about lofty ideas. My motto was ‘simple living, high thinking’. Counting money was beneath me.

I was like the guy in the story who did not realize the value of money on time.

Once upon a time there lived a guy who was very passionate about knowledge and wisdom. One day he found a bottle with a Genie. He released the Genie from the bottle and the Genie asked him what he wants as a reward. The guy said, give me all the knowledge of the world, and he received all the knowledge of the world. However, once he got the knowledge and wisdom he realized he needed money more…
